Height joins a 49ers defense that is looking to rebound after an injury-plagued 2025 season in which the unit finished with an NFL-low 20 sacks.
"Humbly, I will be able to help them with that," Height said after being drafted.
According to OverTheCap, Height's four-year deal is worth approximately $7.33 million. It includes a signing bonus of about $1.79 million and carries a 2026 salary-cap hit of roughly $1.33 million.
Height finished his six-year college career with 111 total tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 16.5 sacks while playing at Auburn, USC, Georgia Tech, and Texas Tech, per Sports Reference.
His breakout season came in 2025 at Texas Tech, where he started 14 games and posted 10 sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 13 quarterback hurries, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.
All rookie contracts are set at four years under the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which extends through the 2030 season. Only first-round picks come with a team option for a fifth year, which doesn't apply to any of the 49ers' selections this year.
"On the hoof, Height looks more like a stack linebacker than edge defender, and his measurables fall below NFL thresholds," Dane Brugler of The Athletic wrote in his player analysis. "But keeping him blocked is easier said than done. His combination of initial quickness, sudden feet, and active hands helps him slither around roadblocks and close in a flash.
"He flashes speed to power to put blockers in reverse, although he needs a runway to create enough force. He will be overwhelmed at times in the run game, but does offer the versatility to peel off and cover zones or wheel routes."
