Over that span, Purdy's relationship with head coach Kyle Shanahan has continued to evolve, something fullback Kyle Juszczyk has noticed firsthand.
During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Juszczyk explained that communication between Purdy and Shanahan has become a key part of the 49ers' offensive process. After nearly every drive, the quarterback and coach immediately discuss what happened on the field and what adjustments should come next.
Juszczyk has also seen Purdy grow more confident and assertive in those conversations, no longer hesitant to challenge ideas or offer a different perspective.
"I just think there's a direct line of communication," Juszczyk said. "And especially as Brock's gotten older, and he's a veteran starter now, he's got a lot of games under his belt, you see Brock being able to contribute more to that, to push back maybe.
"He doesn't always have to agree with what Kyle says or sees out there, and it's been cool to see Brock mature in this league and be able to stand on his belief of, 'Hey, this is what I actually saw, and this is how I see it,' and be able to have that communication and that back-and-forth."
Despite Purdy's success, critics still argue that the 49ers quarterback is simply a product of Shanahan's system and shouldn't be mentioned among the NFL's elite passers. Juszczyk, however, believes Purdy's play consistently proves otherwise.
"Brock just has an incredible ability to process post-snap," Juszczyk explained. "I think he does an incredible job of being able to see how the defense moves after the ball's snapped. And he's got that ability to make his own play when it's not there. And I think that's something that gets slept on a lot with Brock.
"He can sit in the pocket, he can do things in progression, but if he needs to run around and buy some time, I think he's one of the better guys in the league at doing it, because he also keeps his eyes down the field as he does it. So, I love that part of Brock's game."
Juszczyk's comments highlight Purdy's growth from a young rookie learning Shanahan's complex offense into a quarterback-coach partnership built on trust and communication.
