This won't be McCormick's first stint with San Francisco. He previously joined the 49ers' practice squad on August 28, 2025, before being released on November 18, 2025.
McCormick isn't the only running back added by the 49ers over the past few days. The team used a third-round pick on former Indiana running back Kaelon Black during the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Las Vegas Raiders originally signed McCormick (5-9, 205) as an undrafted free agent out of UTSA in 2022. He spent three seasons with the Raiders, primarily on the practice squad, before his initial opportunity with the 49ers.
After his brief time in San Francisco, McCormick had short stints on the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings during the remainder of the 2025 season.
McCormick's only career regular-season production came in 2024 with the Raiders, when he appeared in five games. He totaled 183 rushing yards on 39 carries (4.7 yards per attempt) and added six receptions for 29 yards.
