The deals increased San Francisco's total draft capital from six picks to seven, including newly acquired selections in the third and fifth rounds—areas where the team previously had no picks.
Now holding the first selection of Day 2, the 49ers are in a prime position. However, they may not be done dealing.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, San Francisco remains "very open" to trading down again in an effort to accumulate additional draft capital. Schultz reports that the team has already received interest from multiple clubs regarding the No. 33 pick.
Speaking to reporters after Round 1, general manager John Lynch stated that the 49ers have a strong sense of who they might select at No. 33, but made it clear the door remains open for another move.
"We've got a good idea of some names," Lynch said. "We're always open for business. I think that would be foolish not to listen, and so we will do that. But we have a good idea of where we're going, and looking forward to that."
