According to Spotrac, the 49ers created $11.6 million in cap space by restructuring defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa's contract. The team converted $14.5 million of his salary into a signing bonus, allowing the cap hit to be prorated over multiple years.
The 49ers acquired Odighizuwa this offseason by trading their third-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys, adding a proven presence to the interior defensive line. He is entering his sixth NFL season.
Following the restructure, Odighizuwa's 2026 base salary drops to $1.715 million, with a 2026 cap hit of $5.122 million, per Spotrac. However, that cap hit is set to rise significantly, jumping to $23.4 million in each of the next two seasons, starting in 2027.
