Gifford (6-3, 243) originally entered the NFL after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys on May 1, 2019. Throughout his seven-year career with the Cowboys (2019-22), Tennessee Titans (2023-24), and 49ers (2025), Gifford has appeared in 90 games (14 starts) and registered 61 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and added 69 tackles on special teams. He has also appeared in four postseason contests and registered four tackles on special teams.
During his first season with the 49ers in 2025, Gifford appeared in 17 games (nine starts) and registered 15 tackles, one pass defensed, and one fumble recovery while adding 20 tackles on special teams. His 20 special teams tackles were tied for the sixth-most in the NFL, helping him earn the first Pro Bowl honor of his career.
A 30-year-old native of Lincoln, NE, Gifford attended the University of Nebraska for five seasons (2014-18) where he appeared in 29 games (18 starts) and registered 109 tackles, 7.0 sacks, seven passes defensed, one interception, and one forced fumble. He was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten after his senior season in 2018.
