The San Francisco 49ers created $17.172 million in 2026 salary cap space by restructuring the contract of star defensive end Nick Bosa.

While the move provides immediate financial flexibility, it also pushes additional cap charges into future seasons. As a result, Bosa is now scheduled to carry a massive $54.9 million salary cap hit in 2027.

The 49ers could revisit the deal in the future to create additional cap relief, potentially restructuring it again if needed.

For now, Bosa is projected to carry the largest salary cap hit on the roster in 2027, exceeding even that of quarterback Brock Purdy, who is currently slated to count $30.8 million against the cap that season.

OverTheCap.com now lists the San Francisco 49ers with $42,424,230 in salary cap space, a significant increase from the $23,797,878 they were reported to have on Friday.
