One player especially enthusiastic about the move is All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner, who shared his thoughts on the addition during the latest episode of his podcast, Real Ones: The League.
"I think he fits right in," Warner said, via Kevin Borba of NBC Sports Bay Area. "I specifically remember meeting him, officially, for the first time at the Pro Bowl a couple of years back. He was there and chopping it up with me and other guys there, who were with the 49ers, and he just seemed like our kind of guy."
Evans joins a receiving corps undergoing notable changes this offseason. The 49ers are expected to move on from Brandon Aiyuk, while Kendrick Bourne and Skyy Moore departed in free agency. Meanwhile, Jauan Jennings remains on the market and could soon land with another team.
Evans brings 12 years of NFL experience to a receiver group that now includes himself, second-year wideout Ricky Pearsall, veteran Demarcus Robinson, and several younger, less experienced receivers.
Warner believes the 32-year-old wideout can still make a major impact on the offense.
"He seemed like he fit in, cool dude, obviously has been an elite receiver in our league for years and years," Warner said. "I know he still got juice left in the tank, and this is like a new challenge for him."
