"Robert Saleh was complimentary of Lucas last season — calling him 'invaluable' at one point — so the Titans would likely be interested," Garafolo noted.
The 49ers have not yet issued a tender to Lucas. Extending a tender would allow San Francisco to retain the right to match any offer sheet he signs with another team or potentially receive draft-pick compensation, depending on the tender level.
Lucas entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick (237th overall) out of Arizona State in 2022, selected by the Detroit Lions. He spent his first two seasons in Detroit, appearing in 18 regular-season games and three playoff contests, primarily contributing on special teams.
Lucas joined the 49ers in March 2024 and spent that season on the practice squad before signing a reserve/future contract in January 2025. During the 2025 season, he appeared in 15 games, recording nine tackles on defense while logging 204 snaps on special teams.
