ESPN's panel of experts recently released early predictions for Super Bowl LXI, which will be played at SoFi Stadium on February 14, 2027. Among the various picks, sports betting analyst Pamela Maldonado has the 49ers defeating the Buffalo Bills to capture the franchise's first Super Bowl title in more than three decades.
The 49ers endured an injury-plagued 2025 season but still finished 12-5 and reached the playoffs. San Francisco eliminated the Philadelphia Eagles in the postseason before falling to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
Maldonado believes head coach Kyle Shanahan's team is positioned to take the next step in 2026.
"The 2025 season was a grind, with multiple injuries to key players such as edge rusher Joey Bosa, linebacker Fred Warner, and tight end George Kittle," Maldonado wrote. "Yet the 49ers still piled up 12 wins and won a playoff game. A roster that's already battle tested under that level of adversity should be a contending team once its health stabilizes."
Christian McCaffrey projected as NFL MVP
Maldonado didn't stop with a Super Bowl prediction. She also projects 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey to turn in another remarkable season, winning the NFL MVP award in 2026.
"McCaffrey is the engine of the Niners' offense," Maldonado wrote. "He posted 1,202 rushing yards, had 924 receiving yards, and carried the Niners through injuries all season. If San Francisco stays mostly healthy and wins 12-plus games again, voters will reward the league's most complete offensive playmaker."
McCaffrey's dual-threat production remains a significant part of the 49ers' offensive identity under Shanahan. If San Francisco can improve this offseason and stay healthy in 2026, a trip to Super Bowl LXI becomes realistic.
