In her first 2026 NFL mock draft, NFL Media analyst Cynthia Frelund projects the 49ers to select Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion, a versatile weapon who has impressed with his yards-after-catch ability.
"Concepcion's ability to create space and earn YAC should fit well within Kyle Shanahan's offense," Frelund wrote.
Concepcion's production backs up that projection. In 2025, he earned a 79.9 receiving grade from Pro Football Focus (PFF) and totaled 440 yards after the catch. For his career, 1,232 of his receiving yards have come after the catch, underscoring his playmaking ability in space.
The former Aggie posted 919 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2025, adding 75 rushing yards and a score on 10 carries, according to Sports Reference.
Concepcion's versatility was on full display in 2023 at NC State, when he produced 1,159 yards from scrimmage, including 320 rushing yards on 41 attempts. That dual-threat capability could make him an ideal fit in Shanahan's offensive scheme.
The 49ers have invested heavily in the wide receiver position in recent years, drafting at least one in each of the past four drafts and two in each of the last two drafts. The team last used a first-round pick on a wideout in 2024, selecting Ricky Pearsall. In 2025, San Francisco added Jordan Watkins in the fourth round and Junior Bergen in the seventh.
