49ers address several needs in new 3-round NFL mock draft

With the Senior Bowl practices and game being covered all week, and the NFL Scouting Combine coming soon, draft discussions are starting to heat up. And that includes mock drafts. The upcoming draft in April is an important one for the San Francisco 49ers, who need an influx of young talent.

Jacob Infante of Pro Football and Sports Network put together a three-round mock draft, and he has the 49ers addressing three big needs.

Round 1: K.C. Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M

The 49ers need help at wide receiver. It's, perhaps, their most glaring need. Infante has them addressing that need early.

"It seems likely that Brandon Aiyuk is on his way out of the San Francisco 49ers' organization, and Jauan Jennings is a free agent this year," Infante wrote. "Presumably losing both Deebo Samuel and Aiyuk in consecutive offseasons, they'll require a talent infusion at the position to complement the likes of George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey in the passing game.

"K.C. Concepcion is a dynamic receiver with tremendous YAC ability and impressive quickness, excelling as a route runner who shoots out of his breaks. Throughout his stints at Texas A&M and NC State, he's been a reliable underneath weapon with inside-outside versatility. His twitchiness underneath and speed-oriented game would be a near-perfect addition to San Francisco's offense."

Getting a difference-maker at wide receiver, especially if he has speed, will not only help the 49ers' passing game, but it will also help the run game. And that could indirectly help the defense.

The big question is, will Kyle Shanahan let a rookie wide receiver play?

Round 2: Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern

Fans have been clamoring for the 49ers to draft an offensive tackle for a few years. But Shanahan and John Lynch have stayed away from the position early in the draft, other than drafting Mike McGlinchey in the first round in 2018.

Infante believes the 49ers will finally change course and use an early pick on offensive tackle.

"Caleb Tiernan is a massive blocker, standing at 6'7″ and weighing 329 pounds, with gap-zone run-blocking versatility," Infante said. "He has the size, strength, hand usage, and spatial awareness to become a good starter in the NFL."

Tiernan may not be the eventual replacement for Trent Williams that fans have been asking for. You don't just replace Hall of Famers. But Tiernan could potentially be a solid starter, and this is a move that could have some fans feeling better about the offensive line.

Round 3: Anthony Lucas, EDGE, USC

If wide receiver isn't the biggest need the 49ers need to fill this offseason, edge rusher might be. In 2025, the 49ers finished at the bottom of the NFL with only 20 QB sacks. San Francisco desperately needs to upgrade the pass rush, and finding someone who can do that opposite of Nick Bosa is an excellent start.

Infante appears to agree.

"The 49ers saw firsthand that their edge-rusher depth wasn't up to par as their defense declined in the second half of 2025," Infante added. "The 6'5″, 275-pound Anthony Lucas is a lengthy, powerful defender with accurate hand placement and good speed-to-power rushing the passer."

If the 49ers can add to that pass rush, their defense has a chance to be more impactful than it was in 2025. Without a solid pass rush, the 49ers' secondary was exposed. Improving that part of the roster would have a significant impact on the entire defense.

Then again, Lynch and Shanahan have been searching for that edge rusher for years. So far, they haven't found him.
