San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams is not contemplating retirement anytime soon. Despite being 37 years old, Williams continues to perform at an elite level and believes he still has plenty of football left in him.

Williams has earned a Pro Football Focus grade above 90 for the fifth time in the past six seasons, underscoring his sustained dominance at one of the NFL's most demanding positions.


Following the 49ers' 48-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night, Williams joined ESPN's Scott Van Pelt for a postgame interview. During the segment, fans inside Lucas Oil Stadium began chanting "one more year," prompting Van Pelt to ask Williams about his future.

"I'm nowhere near done, so we've got a few more years," Williams said.

The comment drew loud cheers from the crowd, much to the delight of the veteran left tackle.

"I'm not leaving. I ain't goin' nowhere," Williams added with a laugh.


Williams entered Monday night having allowed 32 pressures this season, his highest total since surrendering 35 in 2013. Even so, he remains a cornerstone of the 49ers' offense, anchoring the left side of the offensive line and providing critical protection for quarterback Brock Purdy.


Earlier this offseason, Purdy offered a fitting description of Williams' importance, calling the All-Pro tackle his "little safety blanket."

"Year after year, for me, blindside as a quarterback, right-handed quarterback, knowing that my left side is good, I can't even describe to you," Purdy said. "It's like a sense of freedom."

Williams and the 49ers have two regular-season games remaining before the playoffs, hosting the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks. With the offense surging at the right time and a playoff berth clinched, Williams continues to play a central role in the 49ers' late-season push.
