Injury updates from Shanahan:
- FB Kyle Juszczyk sustained a rib fracture and will be re-evaluated following the bye week.
- LG Ben Bartch suffered a foot sprain and is likely out for the remainder of the season. He will likely head to injured reserve.
- LB Nick Martin has entered the NFL's concussion protocol.
When asked if Bartch could return for the playoffs, Shanahan said, "They're still evaluating the necessary steps, when he gets surgery and stuff, so I didn't ask that. It didn't sound like it. We're looking at possible Lisfranc here, so that would surprise me, but not 100% sure."
The 49ers now head into their bye week and won't play another game until Sunday, December 14, when they host the Tennessee Titans at Levi's Stadium.
49ers returning soon?
Shanahan noted that defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring) and kicker Eddy Piñeiro (hamstring) have a good chance to return after the bye week. Gross-Matos had a good workout on Monday and could return in time for the 49ers' next game.
Defensive end Sam Okuayinonu (ankle) and linebacker Tatum Bethune (ankle) could also be back around the same time.
Regarding Bethune being available after the bye, Shanahan said, "We're hopeful. Tatum's coming off his high-ankle, so I believe that would be three weeks. That might be a little fast, but he's got a chance, along with Sam O."
Monday tryouts
According to the NFL transaction wire, San Francisco brought in several players for workouts on Monday.
Tryouts:
- WR Javon Baker
- WR Cole Burgess
- QB Taylor Elgersma
- WR Kobe Hudson
- TE Tanner McLachlan
