The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 8 contest against the Houston Texans on Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Quarterback Brock Purdy practiced for the second consecutive day as he continues working his way back from a toe injury that has already sidelined him for five games this season.

"He's doing a really good job," general manager John Lynch said during a radio interview. "We're taking the appropriate measures, and what I can tell you is he gets better each week, each day. I do think we're getting closer to him returning."

Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group noted: "Brock Purdy in QB rotation but still seems like Mac Jones to start again."

Meanwhile, for the second straight day, cornerback Deommodore Lenoir worked out on a side field while missing practice after suffering an injury on Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Lynch described the injury as a "quad bruise."

Players seen working on the side (if not mentioned, injuries listed in the participation report below):

Gifford was a limited practice participant on Wednesday, so his absence is notable. Defensive end Bryce Huff, who was seen working on the side on Wednesday, spent Thursday in the weight room.

Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Texans, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
