It's increasingly likely that Mac Jones will make his fourth start of the season this weekend, as quarterback Brock Purdy remains sidelined with a toe injury, though he was seen jogging on the side during Thursday's practice.
Jones is dealing with his own injuries (knee, oblique) and was a limited practice participant for the second consecutive day.
"I think we feel pretty good about where he's going to be at," general manager John Lynch said of Jones on Thursday morning. "If you saw him play through that game (against the Rams), that was real-life stuff. You saw it, and you saw toughness and grit, and you saw a guy stepping up and playing through some things. But I think Mac's in good shape, who will continue to work to it by Sunday. We're hopeful and believe that he's going to be in a good spot."
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall also worked on the side while recovering from a knee injury, but the 49ers appear pessimistic about his availability for Sunday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The good news for the 49ers is that Jauan Jennings returned to practice after missing last week's win over the Los Angeles Rams, dealing with ankle and rib injuries.
Defensive tackle Alfred Collins also returned to practice after missing Wednesday due to a knee sprain.
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Buccaneers, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
