While the 49ers aren't required to release a practice participation report until Wednesday, team reporters observed the early portion of Monday's session. They provided insight into which players were absent or limited.
Quarterback Brock Purdy was not seen during the early session as he continues to recover from a toe injury that has sidelined him for three games. Backup quarterback Mac Jones was present but appeared to be taking it easy, likely managing the physical toll from last week's intense overtime win.
Jones could make his fourth start of the season on Sunday against the Buccaneers.
On the injury front, wide receiver Jauan Jennings (rib, ankle), who was inactive against the Rams, was in uniform for practice. Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee), running back Christian McCaffrey, and offensive lineman Trent Williams were all absent.
Tight end George Kittle (hamstring) remains on injured reserve, with a more likely return expected next week. Kittle was seen running on the side alongside cornerback Upton Stout (ankle), defensive tackle Alfred Collins (knee sprain), linebacker Dee Winters, offensive lineman Ben Bartch (ankle), and wide receiver Jordan Watkins (calf).
San Francisco opened the practice window for safety Malik Mustapha ahead of practice. He started the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list as he recovered from an ACL injury.
This Monday session provides an early look at the 49ers' health heading into a crucial Week 6 matchup, as they aim to improve upon their NFC West-leading 4-1 record.
