The NFL transaction wire reveals that the Commissioner granted the 49ers a roster exemption this week, allowing Robinson to rejoin practice without forcing the team to open a roster spot.
Robinson's suspension stemmed from a DUI arrest in November 2024 while with the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers were aware of the potential suspension before signing the veteran receiver in March.
Robinson impressed during training camp and is expected to provide a significant boost to a receiving corps that missed Jauan Jennings (ankle, shoulder) in Week 3 and is still awaiting the return of Brandon Aiyuk, who continues to work his way back from last season's ACL and MCL injuries.
Rookie Jordan Watkins is also expected to miss multiple weeks with a calf injury.
"You never know with calves, but guess around three to four," head coach Kyle Shanahan said last week.
Robinson, 31, spent the past two seasons with the Rams, appearing in all 17 games in 2024 and recording 31 receptions for 505 yards and seven touchdowns. He previously played for the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Second-year wideout Ricky Pearsall leads the team with 281 receiving yards this season.
