"Brock is so tough, they actually think maybe it's more like one to three weeks that'll be out for this," Glazer said. "They're a little more optimistic than others."
Purdy has already been ruled out for the 49ers' Week 2 matchup against the New Orleans Saints and is inactive for the game, with Mac Jones starting in his place.
When asked about Rapoport's original two-to-five-week timeline, 49ers general manager John Lynch emphasized that the team continues to view Purdy's recovery as a week-to-week situation.
"What we're dealing with is kind of a week-to-week thing," Lynch said. "That's our information. Brock's doing well, coming back from it, and we'll just treat it as such. He's doing a nice job, doing everything he can to get back out there as soon as possible. And so, that's where we're at."
On Sunday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that while the 49ers were not optimistic about Purdy's Week 2 availability—but haven't eliminated the possibility of him playing—they acknowledged the quarterback has made progress.
"We'll see for next week," one source told Schefter. "Next week will be tight, but he progressed a lot this week."
