San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy owns a 5-1 career record against the Seattle Seahawks. Even more impressive, he is a perfect 3-0 at Lumen Field, where the 49ers will open their 2025 season on Sunday.

Here are three reasons why Purdy is poised to stay undefeated in Seattle.

Maturation

Purdy is entering his fourth year as a quarterback in the NFL. After the five-year, $265 million contract extension, Purdy has cemented himself as the franchise quarterback, so there will be no weight of contract distractions impairing his play. He's seen several defensive looks, so expect Purdy to utilize his quick processing to distribute the ball effectively.

Supporting Cast

Purdy has running back Christian McCaffrey and tackle Trent Williams back in the lineup, which was a small part of his slightly declined play in 2024. With the new addition of running back Brian Robinson Jr., Shanahan's offense will emphasize running the ball, and if successful, a successful Purdy will activate.

Purdy's number one weapon is CMC. His number one target is wide receiver Jauan Jennings. His number one playmaker is tight end George Kittle. His Joker will be wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. Purdy's support will be healthy and in full effect on Sunday in Seattle.

Timing

Purdy has built rapport with every wide receiver and pass catcher throughout training camp. With Jennings returning to action, Purdy has the trust of his receiver in one-on-one matchups downfield.

The rhythm and timing built with Pearsall gives Purdy another weapon to utilize in his arsenal. Purdy appears to have mastered throwing the ball to a destination spot rather than the receiver. Whether short passes, check-downs, or deep throws down the field, Purdy is ready to stand and deliver.
