Additionally, the team has signed quarterback Tanner Mordecai to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team placed cornerback Tre Brown (heel injury) on the injured reserve list and released quarterback Nate Sudfeld.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Moore (5-10, 195) was originally drafted by the Chiefs in the second round (54th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. Throughout his three seasons with the Chiefs (2022-24), he has appeared in 36 games (11 starts) and registered 43 receptions for 494 yards (11.5 average) and one touchdown through the air to go along with six carries for 47 yards (7.8 average) on the ground. He has also appeared in three postseason contests and registered five receptions for 17 yards (3.4 average) and one touchdown through the air to go along with two carries for seven yards (3.5 average) on the ground.
A 24-year-old native of Pittsburgh, PA, Moore attended Western Michigan University for three years (2019-21), where he appeared in 30 games and registered 171 receptions for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns, and added three carries for 12 yards and one touchdown.
Mordecai (6-2, 218) originally entered the NFL after signing with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2024. Mordecai signed with the 49ers practice squad on August 28, 2024, where he spent the season and was most recently waived by the team on August 11, 2025, after signing on August 8.
A 24-year-old native of Waco, TX, Mordecai attended the University of Wisconsin (2023) after transferring from Southern Methodist University (2021-22) and the University of Oklahoma (2018-20) where he completed 850 of his 1,281 passing attempts for 9,856 yards and 85 touchdowns to go along with 238 rushes for 657 yards and eight touchdowns. As a junior in 2021, Mordecai earned Second Team All-AAC.
Brown (5-10, 185) originally signed with the team on March 14, 2025. Sudfeld (6-6, 230) originally signed with the team on August 19, 2025.
