Head coach Kyle Shanahan clarified the absence following Sunday's practice, saying, "Yeah, Brock had some family stuff yesterday—all good news."
Now, the reason behind Purdy's absence is clear—he and his wife, Jenna Purdy, welcomed their first child, Millie Joleen Purdy.
"Life just became a whole lot sweeter," Jenna joyfully shared on Instagram.
Jenna's pregnancy was recently leaked by a teammate—49ers tight end Mason Pline—during an interview with radio host Larry Krueger.
When asked about Purdy's Christmas gifts of Toyota vehicles to his offensive linemen, and if he would be requesting one, Pline said, "He's got a baby on the way, so I'm sure that's on the back burner."
Of course, what wasn't revealed is how far along Jenna was in her pregnancy. The private couple only officially revealed the news after Millie's birth.
Purdy is entering his fourth NFL season after signing a five-year, $265 million contract extension in May, solidifying his future as the 49ers' franchise quarterback.
