According to the NFL transaction wire, which includes tryouts, the 49ers recently held workouts for the following seven players:
- WR Quintez Cephus (Wisconsin)
- WR Grant DuBose (North Carolina-Charlotte)
- WR Ramel Keyton (Tennessee)
- WR Stanley Morgan (Nebraska)
- QB Spencer Petras (Utah State)
- WR Brandon Powell (Florida)
- WR Equanimeous St. Brown (Notre Dame)
Equanimeous St. Brown is the older brother of Detroit Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and has played for the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints. Brandon Powell also has significant NFL experience, having been in the league since 2018.
As the list shows, it's a wide receiver-heavy group, which makes sense given the 49ers' current uncertainty at the position.
Star receiver Deebo Samuel is now with the Washington Commanders, and Brandon Aiyuk is still recovering from the ACL and MCL injuries he sustained in October 2024. Additionally, second-year wideout Ricky Pearsall has been placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, joining Aiyuk.
There is also the unresolved situation with Jauan Jennings, who is entering the final year of the two-year contract he signed in 2024. Last week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Jennings is seeking a new deal and may request a trade if an agreement isn't reached.
With training camp about to begin and several key questions at wide receiver, the 49ers are clearly exploring their options to potentially add some depth during the upcoming schedule of practices.
