The 49ers confirmed they are sending a mid-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to Philadelphia in exchange for Huff. Neither team has specified the exact round, which means the pick could be a conditional selection. According to Schefter's initial report, the pass rusher also agreed to restructure his contract to help facilitate the trade.

"He was set to make about $17 million fully guaranteed this season from Philadelphia, but the Eagles now will take on only $9.05 million in salary, leaving the 49ers responsible for the remaining $7.95 million due to Huff this season," Schefter noted last Friday.
The New York Jets signed Huff (6-3, 255) as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis in 2020. Last season, he appeared in 12 games (six starts) with the Eagles, tallying 13 tackles (three for a loss), four quarterback hits, and 2.5 sacks, according to Pro Football Reference.
Huff missed five weeks of the 2024 season due to a torn ligament in his wrist. He was activated from injured reserve on December 28 and was healthy for the playoffs, though he was inactive for the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Huff, 27, has recorded 78 tackles (20 for a loss), 47 quarterback hits, 20 sacks, and three passes defensed in 66 career games (13 starts) over five NFL seasons.
His most productive season came in 2023, when he notched a career-high 10 sacks. During his final two years with the Jets, under then-head coach Robert Saleh, his pass-rush grade from Pro Football Focus never dipped below 86.8. The trade to San Francisco reunites Huff with Saleh, now the 49ers' defensive coordinator.
"Under Saleh in 2023, Huff had a career-high 10 sacks and 68 pressures on just 312 pass rush snaps -- the best pressure rate in the NFL at 21.8%, per Next Gen Stats," Schefter wrote.
The 49ers are hoping Saleh can help Huff replicate that level of production in 2025.
