"Purdy gets financial security and control over his future in a deal that will be finalized and official soon," Garafolo wrote.
For the 49ers, the deal provides long-term stability at the most important position, locking in their franchise quarterback through the 2030 season. It marks the largest contract in team history, and the $53 million annual average throughout the new years of the deal ties Purdy with Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff as the NFL's seventh-highest-paid player.
Purdy's deal reportedly includes $181 million in total guarantees, with $100 million fully guaranteed. He is set to earn $165.05 million through the first three years of the extension.
San Francisco selected Purdy with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft—No. 262 overall—out of Iowa State. In his first three NFL seasons, he has led the 49ers to two NFC Championship appearances and a Super Bowl.
Last season, Purdy passed for 3,864 yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, adding five rushing touchdowns. Over his three seasons, he has totaled 9,518 passing yards, 64 passing touchdowns, and 27 interceptions, along with eight rushing scores.
