Agent Brett Tessler announced that his client, Greg Joseph, is signing a one-year deal with the 49ers.
Joseph, 30, entered the NFL in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic, initially signing with the Miami Dolphins. Throughout his career, he has kicked for the Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and New York Jets.
In 75 career games, Joseph has made 82.3% of his field goal attempts and 90.8% of his extra-point tries. He has converted 71 of 72 kicks inside 40 yards and also brings extensive kickoff experience.
While Moody missed 10 field goals last season, the 49ers believe injuries contributed to his inconsistency and remain hopeful he'll rebound in 2025.
"There isn't a special teams coach in this league that didn't have him rated number one coming out, that I know of," said new special teams coordinator Brant Boyer. "He's as talented a kid as it gets. I think that the injury issue, where he was fighting injuries, going back and forth, I think that had a lot to do with it."
Boyer, who joined the 49ers from the Jets, briefly worked with Joseph during his stint in New York in 2024.
