Juszczyk, 33, was part of a significant roster overhaul in Santa Clara this offseason that saw several fan favorites depart. The Baltimore Ravens selected Juszczyk out of Harvard in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. After four seasons in Baltimore, he became the highest-paid fullback in NFL history when he signed with the 49ers in 2017.
While most NFL teams have moved away from using a fullback, Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith remains one of the few play-callers who still values the position. That makes Pittsburgh an intriguing potential landing spot for Juszczyk, whose versatility as a blocker, receiver, and short-yardage option made him a key piece of Kyle Shanahan's offense over the years.
Juszczyk appeared in all 17 games for the 49ers last season, playing 50% of the offensive snaps. He totaled 226 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns on 24 touches. Although his Pro Football Focus offensive grade has declined from 74.9 in 2019 to 61.8 in 2024, he still earned a solid 72.9 pass-blocking grade and a 69.7 run-blocking grade last season.
If the visit goes well, Juszczyk could bring valuable experience to the Steelers' offense in 2025.
