The Athletic's Michael Silver reports that the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins have both made offers to free-agent pass rusher Joey Bosa. Each team presents a unique incentive to entice the five-time Pro Bowler. With the 49ers, Bosa would have the rare opportunity to reunite with his younger brother, defensive end Nick Bosa, for the first time since high school.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins hold sentimental value, as Bosa's father, John, played for Miami from 1987 to 1990. Additionally, Bosa is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.


Silver also shares another intriguing detail: both the 49ers and Dolphins are offering Bosa contracts within the "same relative price range," with both deals reportedly worth less than $10 million in 2025.


Update: Silver later stated that a source familiar with the discussions disputes that any offer has been made to Bosa by the 49ers and that the numbers discussed are wrong. "It's possible Bosa will get more than $10 million from a team," Silver added.


The 49ers' roster is undergoing significant changes this offseason. While the team is set to add tight end Luke Farrell in free agency, several fan favorites are departing. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and cornerback Charvarius Ward have all agreed to deals with new teams.

The Chargers drafted Bosa out of Ohio State with the No. 3 overall pick in 2016. Last season, he recorded 22 tackles (five for a loss), 13 quarterback hits, five sacks, and two forced fumbles in 14 games (nine starts).

While Bosa has enjoyed a prolific career, injuries have plagued him in recent years. He has missed 23 games over the past three seasons, and his last double-digit sack campaign came in 2021.
