A move to San Francisco would make sense for Bosa, as it could be his only NFL opportunity to team up with his younger brother, 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa. The two have long expressed a desire to play alongside each other.
However, if Bosa prioritizes securing the most lucrative deal, the 49ers may struggle to compete financially. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that the Miami Dolphins are also expected to be strong contenders for the pass rusher.
San Francisco's pass rush struggled last season, contributing to the team's decision to part ways with defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen after just one year. The 49ers have since rehired Robert Saleh to revamp their defense.
The 49ers finished the season with 37 sacks, tied for 23rd in the NFL, and earned a 68.1 pass-rush grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking 18th.
While Bosa has been highly productive throughout his career, injuries have been a concern. The five-time Pro Bowler has missed 23 games over the past three seasons and hasn't recorded double-digit sacks since 2021.
