West Virginia tight end Kole Taylor confirmed that the 49ers were among several teams that met with him at the Hula Bowl.
"I had a good meeting with the Miami Dolphins," Taylor told The Draft Network's Justin Melo in a recent interview. "... I thought the meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs went well. ... I met with a bunch of teams in total—the 49ers, Ravens, Cardinals, Jaguars, Buccaneers, Falcons, Lions, Bears, and a few others."
Melo labeled Taylor as a "consistent pass-catching threat" this past season.
Taylor transferred from LSU and spent two seasons at West Virginia, where he recorded 78 catches for 892 yards and seven touchdowns. He believes his performance at the Hula Bowl helped showcase his potential at the next level.
"I think I proved that I'm an all-around tight end," Taylor said. "I did great in the passing game. I was able to hold my own as an in-line blocker in the run game as well. I highlighted my ball skills and overall versatility."
The tight end expressed pride in hauling in at least one reception in every game over the past two seasons.
"I feel like I was super consistent at West Virginia," Taylor commented.
