Notes
Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos and linebacker Dee Winters missed practice all this week, leading to both being ruled out for Week 1. Both players were injured during the 49ers' preseason finale and have been seen working on the side with the training staff. Gross-Matos is dealing with a knee injury, while Winters is recovering from an ankle issue.
Running back Christian McCaffrey is still recovering from calf and Achilles issues, which has resulted in his "questionable" status for Monday night. Meanwhile, safety Talanoa Hufanga, who tore his ACL in November 2023, is listed as "doubtful."
When asked if it was too soon for Hufanga's return, head coach Kyle Shanahan said, "I don't think it's necessarily too soon. I think he's looked great, so we're just trying to be the safest we can be with him, be smart with him. We haven't ruled him out just in case of an emergency or anything, which means that, if he needed to, he would be available, but we're just trying to play it smart with him."
Shanahan was also asked about McCaffrey's injury and whether it was related to the one he sustained in Week 17 last season.
"I don't know if they're related, but I think it's similar," Shanahan responded.
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and tackle Trent Williams continue to prepare for their return to action after resolving their respective contract standoffs.
Below are Saturday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Jets, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
