Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, however, chose to take the succinct route when asked about his teammate. And sometimes that can be the best way to go for a topic that could very easily be discussed at great length.
Here's what Samuel had to say about "CMC" during Tuesday's appearance on NFL Network's "The Insiders," specifically regarding what he's seen from McCaffrey over the summer.
"One word to use when you're talking about Christian McCaffrey, the guy's a machine," Samuel said with a smile. "Man, he's just the best back I've seen."
At this point, there probably aren't too many football fans or NFL analysts out there who would argue with anointing McCaffrey as a "machine." Given his high level of usage (272 carries in 2023) despite being surrounded by so many respected offensive weapons like Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk, coupled with his stone-faced, robotic-like appearance whenever he takes the field, calling him a machine kind of fits like a glove.
But there are plenty of other ways to describe him, too. Referring to McCaffrey as a "Swiss Army Knife" would certainly fit the bill in describing his innate versatility. Or, if we were to momentarily borrow a sports nickname from Dominique Wilkins, "The Human Highlight Film," arguably one of better nicknames in NBA history, that one also does a phenomenal job in summarizing the All-Pro running back's many appointment-worthy moments.
Though, for now, machine seems to work more than fine, as its simplicity pretty much marries perfectly with McCaffrey's bare bones, get-it-done approach.
The interview with Deebo Samuel on NFL Network can be seen in its entirety below. But to offer up a quick teaser, when the topic of Brandon Aiyuk and his contract/trade status was broached, Deebo casually dropped, "you just gotta keep waitin' like me."
