During his inaugural youth football camp at Levi's Stadium this past weekend, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy faced a candid inquiry from one young participant: Is the NFL scripted?
"No, the NFL is not scripted," a smiling Purdy responded. However, the quarterback added, "Good question."
In the video, Purdy gracefully navigates another tricky question, this time about ranking himself among NFL quarterbacks. The 24-year-old opted to avoid any controversy, simply stating that the league has "a lot of good quarterbacks."
Purdy, the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, seized his opportunity when injuries sidelined other quarterbacks. The young signal-caller did more than just show that he belonged in the NFL. Purdy led the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game during his rookie campaign and then to the Super Bowl this past season.
Purdy is coming off a standout 2023 campaign, setting a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards. He and the 49ers kicked off their offseason program this week, aiming to rebound after a heartbreaking Super Bowl loss.
