Each year, a current 49ers player is honored with the Dwight Clark Legacy Award, presented to a player who best exemplifies the late receiver's spirit of teamwork. Linebacker Fred Warner was the recipient last year. Defensive lineman Arik Armstead, now with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was the recipient in 2022, while tight end George Kittle earned the first-ever award in 2021.
"Dre is more than deserving of the 2024 Dwight Clark Award," Warner said of his teammate, per Maiocco. "The admiration Dwight's teammates had for him is the same we have for Dre. The way he inspires people through his relentless play is recognized on and off the field.
"He's been a brother to me since we drafted him in 2019. I've always said it, I wouldn't be the player I am without Dre Greenlaw. He never asks for praise. He just shows up every day to play the game he loves."
Greenlaw is recovering from the torn Achilles injury he sustained during the Super Bowl in February. He will likely provide an update on his recovery at the event.
Last month, general manager John Lynch provided an update on Greenlaw's progress, commenting, "Dre will tell you he's going to be back Week 1. I don't put anything past Dre, but we have to be smart. Maybe a PUP (Physically Unable to Perform list) situation."
