Here are the compensatory picks granted to the 49ers:
- Round 3, No. 99 overall (see below)
- Round 4, No. 132 overall
- Round 5, No. 175 overall
- Round 6, No. 211 overall
- Round 6, No. 215 overall
Compensatory picks are allocated to teams to offset the difference between losses and additions in free agency from the previous year and to reward the development of minority candidates who are hired into head coaching or general manager positions by other teams. The compensatory picks are positioned within the third through seventh rounds. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) limits the number of compensatory selections to 32 total, which means only some teams that meet the criteria for compensatory picks will receive compensation.
The 49ers and Rams each received an additional selection (in the third round) as part of the NFL's minority-hiring initiative for coaches and executives. However, San Francisco's goes to the Washington Commanders as part of the trade for defensive end Chase Young.
The following 49ers losses factored into the compensatory picks issued to the team:
- LB Azeez Al-Shaair
- OL Daniel Brunskill
- DL Samson Ebukam
- QB Jimmy Garoppolo
- OL Mike McGlinchey
- DB Emmanuel Moseley
- DL Charles Omenihu
- DL Hassan Ridgeway
- DB Jimmie Ward
The following 49ers additions factored into the compensatory picks issued to the team:
- QB Sam Darnold
- DL Clelin Ferrell
- DL Javon Hargrave
- DB Isaiah Oliver
San Francisco has earned 43 compensatory picks since 1994, the sixth most of any team during that timespan.
