Brock Purdy has done enough since entering the NFL in 2022 to impress two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Patrick Mahomes, whose Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 on Sunday. On Monday, the teams gathered at Allegiant Stadium for "Super Bowl Opening Night," where Mahomes shared his thoughts on the 49ers' quarterback.

"He's done a great job in these last two years that he's played," Mahomes stated to reporters. "I haven't got to play him yet, but he does a great job extending plays. He does a great job making the throws, and he's a winner.

"I didn't play him when he was at Iowa State, but when he was at Iowa State, playing against my Red Raiders, he was winning. I mean, he's always been a winner, and that's what it takes in this league. It's not always the flashy plays. It's can you go out there and win? And he does both the flashy and he wins football games."

Mahomes clearly recognizes Purdy's talent. There are those still labeling Purdy as a "game manager," attributing his success to the talent around him and Kyle Shanahan's system rather than giving the young quarterback credit for his accomplishments.

Purdy set a single-season franchise record by passing for 4,280 yards this season and is an MVP finalist, leading his team to the brink of a Super Bowl championship.
