The conversations didn't start this week. For weeks, Purdy has been talking to his teammates, absorbing as much information as possible. The quarterback aimed to understand their perspectives on crucial moments in significant games and their mental approach to postseason contests.
"I've asked almost all the guys," Purdy admitted on Friday. "And so, I've taken something away from every single guy. I'm not really going to say specific things from specific people, but all I can say is, man, the leadership and the experience with these guys here, you could tell how much the guys are hungry for one because you never know when an opportunity like this comes around."
Purdy pointed to veteran tackle Trent Williams, who has earned 11 Pro Bowl selections throughout his Hall of Fame-worthy career. Yet, this will be his first time playing in a Super Bowl.
The quarterback added, "Every single guy's got a cool perspective."
Purdy hasn't limited his information gathering to those within the organization. He's gained insights from Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner through recent interviews.
Leading up to the first playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, Purdy also had a lengthy discussion with another Hall of Fame quarterback and Bay Area icon, Steve Young, for a feature on 49ers.com. The two spoke a little more off-camera, and Purdy hopes to reach out to Young again before Super Bowl 58.
"Steve Young, [spoke with him] a tiny bit," Purdy said. "Nothing crazy yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to reach out to him and talk. But outside of that, it's been such a whirlwind with our games played, and practices, and everything now, and who we are as a team."
