The most notable development coming out of Santa Clara on Thursday was Deebo Samuel's return to practice. The wide receiver is recovering from the shoulder injury that knocked him out of last weekend's playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers.
Samuel didn't practice on Wednesday. Instead, he worked on a side field with the training staff as his teammates performed their drills. Samuel was back for the Thursday session but was a limited participant.
When questioned about the extent of improvement in Samuel's shoulder, Shanahan stated, "Enough to be limited."
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Lions, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
