This week's primary injury concern revolves around wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who suffered a shoulder injury during this past weekend's playoff win over the Green Bay Packers. This week's tests showed that the receiver didn't sustain a fracture, unlike the shoulder injury he endured during Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns, which led to him missing the subsequent two games.
Shanahan revealed that Samuel will not participate in the Wednesday practice session, and the receiver's status for Sunday's game remains uncertain.
"He's feeling better," Shanahan said of his ailing receiver. "... Just his shoulder hurts. That's all. Just hurts."
When asked if Samuel's status makes him optimistic regarding his availability for Sunday, Shanahan stated, "It makes me feel better."
San Francisco's next two practices are scheduled for 1:15 p.m. PT on Thursday and 12:30 p.m. PT on Friday. Kickoff between the 49ers and Lions is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. PT at Levi's Stadium.
