Leading up to the game, the 49ers ruled out defensive tackle Arik Armstead, safety Ji'Ayir Brown, safety Tashaun Gipson, running back Christian McCaffrey, cornerback Ambry Thomas, and wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
While head coach Kyle Shanahan initially stated that quarterback Brock Purdy would not play against the Rams, the team officially ruled him out just hours before kickoff, making him ineligible to serve as the in-uniform emergency third quarterback.
Center Jon Feliciano (back), wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (rib), and fullback Kyle Juszczyk (illness) were listed as "questionable." All three are active.
The 49ers also added offensive linemen Trent Williams and Jake Brendel to the injury report with an illness. Both are active.
On Saturday, San Francisco placed tight end Ross Dwelley (ankle) on the injured reserve list and activated wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud from the injured reserve list. Additionally, the team elevated safety Tayler Hawkins and running back Jeremy McNichols from the practice squad.
