In response to Newton's comments, Samuel told Adams, "First of all, Cam Newton, stop texting my phone, bro. You were a fan like two weeks ago. You wanted me on your podcast after talking about my quarterback, which is funny to me."

Seemingly perplexed by the 49ers receiver's remarks, Newton took to social media to address them, stating, "You must stop the cap, bro. ... My point is this: You said something like, 'Cam, stop calling my phone.' Motherf----r, I don't got your number."
It's uncertain who is telling the truth here. Maybe Samuel was mistakingly thinking of Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons, who also hosts a podcast and praised Purdy in September before seemingly taking a shot at the quarterback this week.
Samuel also responded to Parsons' comments, saying, "Like, bro, we beat you 42 to whatever the score may be, like a long time ago. I don't get why he's so bothered by what we got going on over here or whatever the case may be."
Nevertheless, Newton has made his stance clear on Purdy, recently stating on his podcast, "Brock, they're not winning because of him. He's managing the game. Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, Jared Goff, and Dak Prescott—these are game managers. They're not difference-makers. They don't have to score every time. They just don't have to throw a pick every time, either. If we're really going to call a spade a spade, a game manager is different than a game changer."
Earlier this month, when asked about being labeled a "game manager," Purdy responded, "I don't know, man. I don't want to comment on that. I'm playing quarterback, trying to win games, and we'll see at the end of all of it."
