The San Francisco 49ers, riding a six-game winning streak, found themselves in a crucial Week 16 matchup against the AFC-leading Baltimore Ravens. However, the Christmas night contest at Levi's Stadium quickly became an uphill battle, resulting in the Ravens coasting to a 33-19 victory at Levi's Stadium.

"I thought we came out hard, ready to go, offense, defense, special teams, getting the safety, moving the ball," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game. "But for that first half, when you have those three turnovers, and you do those things, and you miss some opportunities, and you're down 16-12, you've got not much to show for."


Shanahan added, "Anytime you've got five turnovers, over 100 yards in penalties, that's how it should be."

The 49ers now look to put this defeat behind them and refocus on the Washington Commanders with two regular-season games left before the playoffs and the team still in the driver's seat for home-field advantage.

"It's such a long season, and it's the NFL," defensive end Nick Bosa said while standing at his locker. "You're going to have games like this. You're going to play really good teams. And it's just about learning from each experience and moving on.

"I think we have the team, the quarterback, and the leadership to take this and learn from it. Obviously, we wanted to capitalize on a great opportunity tonight, but it's the NFL."

Despite second-year quarterback Brock Purdy having the worst game of his career, throwing four interceptions against the Ravens, he remains resolute in the team's ultimate goal.


"It's the NFL," Purdy said. "We have some opportunities coming up, and we still got two games left in the regular season before we get in the playoffs. And so, for me, trying to look at the big picture of what we're trying to do, what our team goals are.

"But at the same time, I have to look myself in the mirror and ask myself why or how that happened and why I made those decisions. And so, our team came ready to play, and for me to make some decisions like that, it pains me, and it's not fair to these guys. So I have to realize that and understand that, and I have to get better for my team."

A win against the Ravens could have gone a long way toward securing home-field advantage. The setback makes the next two games that much more critical. The team now aims to bounce back and demonstrate that Monday night was just a hiccup.

"We lost a game that we really wanted to win," Shanahan said. "We knew this was a big one. Our guys are real disappointed tonight. They should be. But when it comes down to it, we're still in the same situation that we were before the game started and we got to take care of our business. And that's why it's all right to be upset tonight.

"We put a lot into that and didn't get out of it what we expected to, but we got to make sure we're ready for Washington when they come back on Wednesday. Coaches will be in there tomorrow, but it's a short week. We'll keep [the players] away and make sure we got a game plan ready for them on Wednesday."


As the 49ers prepare for their Week 17 trip to Landover, Maryland, linebacker Fred Warner emphasizes the importance of maintaining the right mindset.

"The mindset is you can't let one [loss] turn into two," Warner said. "You got to wipe this one, learn from it, of course, watch the tape hard, be honest with yourself. But you've got to get back to work; get right back to work.

"We can't let this affect our confidence as a team. We know who we are. We got to come back on a short week and go on the road in a big game and find a way to win one game."
