How did QB Brock Purdy look in his return to the field on which his UCL was torn back in January? After starting a little shaky, Purdy finished with 314 yards passing and four touchdown passes. He had some passes that looked like they got away from him, but for the most part, the QB played very well, on a national stage, with the potential league MVP on the other side of the field.
- Great play by Charvarius Ward to force a field goal on the opening drive, after a Ji'Ayir Brown missed tackle allowed the Eagles to get into field goal range. Ward continues his great play.
- Brown is playing pretty well, but he has missed some tackles throughout his first few games.
- Deebo Samuel can do it all. He even returns kicks.
- The 49ers defense gave up 120 yards on the first two drives, but only surrendered six points. That came back to haunt the Eagles.
- The 49ers offense, meanwhile, was anemic to start the game. Two consecutive 3rd and longs. Two consecutive three-and-outs.
- The Eagles had more first downs in the first quarter than the 49ers had offensive plays. That's not good, in case you're wondering.
- Christian McCaffrey didn't touch the ball in that first quarter. Not sure that's the best game plan.
- The offense finally got it going in the second quarter. Brandon Aiyuk's touchdown reception got the 49ers on the board. That was a great catch, by the way.
- That was some bad tackling on the 3rd and 19 the Eagles converted in the second quarter.
- Ambry Thomas continues to prove me wrong. He's not just playing better, he's playing really well.
- The 49ers offense had a much better second quarter than they did first quarter.
- Good things happen when McCaffrey touches the ball. The star running back surpassed 1000 yards rushing on the season, as well.
- Speaking of McCaffrey, is he a lock to end up in Canton? It's certainly trending that way.
- It's a lot of fun when Samuel is running all over a defense. He backed up his talk.
- Dumb move by Dre Greenlaw, letting the Eagles and the crowd back into this game.
- Greenlaw should not have been ejected, though. I can't believe I agree with Skip Bayless here.
- Greenlaw gave the Eagles the momentum. Samuel took it right back.
- Third and Jauan (Jennings) scores touchdowns, as well. He tossed that defensive back, by the way.
- What a game by Samuel. Over 100 yards receiving to go along with three touchdowns.
- Congrats to Kalia Davis. This was his first game to be in uniform. And he got his first sack.
Next up for the 49ers is another matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, who will be well rested, coming off a mini-bye. This will be another big game for the 49ers, who will be looking to extend their lead in the NFC West and keep pace with the conference-leading Eagles.
