Brown has declared it "troll [Deebo Samuel] week," urging Eagles fans to engage with the star 49ers player ahead of this crucial matchup.
While Brown and Samuel may be close, the latter shared his disdain for the Eagles during the offseason, identifying them as his most disliked team in the NFL.
"[My] most hated team is the Eagles right now. One hundred percent," Samuel admitted in May. "... All the trash talk coming from the Eagles fan base and the players, you just get tired of that."
The Eagles have criticized the 49ers for doing too much talking themselves following last season's NFC Championship Game loss. The confident 49ers squad insisted that the 31-7 defeat would have had a different outcome had quarterback Brock Purdy not suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow early in the contest.
"I ain't going to keep going on about what could've happened and what would've happened, but yeah, it would've definitely been a different outcome," Samuel said. "... We lost because we played with 10 people."
His teammate, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, added to the chatter following that playoff loss, saying, "We have, hands down, the best football team in the league. Hands down. Hands down. I'm not even about to argue with anybody who thinks they should argue that."
Still, this latest development is all in good fun for Brown and Samuel, with the former making it known that he is looking forward to seeing the 49ers wideout this weekend.
Sunday's rematch at Lincoln Financial Field could be crucial in developing the NFC playoff picture. A 49ers victory would bring them closer to the top seed and home-field advantage, while an Eagles win would make it challenging for anyone else to overtake the Philly team for the top spot.
