Purdy completed 21 of his 25 passing attempts for 333 yards and three touchdowns, earning a perfect passer rating of 158.3. Notably, he is the first 49ers quarterback to do so with a minimum of 20 pass attempts (Joe Montana did it in a game in 1989 on 19 attempts). Furthermore, Purdy became the first 49ers quarterback to post a passer rating of 140.0 or higher in consecutive games since Alex Smith did so in 2012.
Purdy became the third player in NFL history under the age of 24 to earn a perfect passer rating with a minimum of 20 attempts.
"I mean, what an honor," Purdy said of the achievement after Sunday's game. "Yeah, what an honor, but at the same time, I feel like there's still some plays and stuff that I wish I had back. So I'm not completely content with just that, but thought it was a great game with the guys around me, the coaching and the play calling, all of it. So that's a testament the team, really."
Upon learning about Purdy's perfect passer rating, running back Christian McCaffrey said, "Dang, he had a perfect passer rating? That's incredible. He's a baller, man. He's a baller. That's a good defense, too. That doesn't shock me, but that is impressive. So I'm happy for him."
San Francisco made Purdy (6-1, 220) a seventh-round selection (No. 262 overall) out of Iowa State last year. He has completed 193 of 275 attempts (70.2 percent) for 2,662 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions through 10 starts this season, per Pro Football Reference.
This is the first time Purdy has earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. He is the first 49ers quarterback to do so since Jimmy Garoppolo after Week 14 of the 2019 season. Additionally, he is the second former Iowa State player to earn the award since quarterback David Archer after Week 3 in 1986.
