If Byrd's name rings a bell, it's likely because the 49ers worked out the Princeton product ahead of this year's draft.
Byrd (6-5, 312) earned first-team All-Ivy honors in his final two collegiate seasons and was named All-ECAC in 2022. He has played 39 games over four college seasons, not playing in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Byrd entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos. He joined the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the regular season but was released from the practice squad on Saturday.
