The same applies to wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and tackle Trent Williams (ankle). All three 49ers stars are in play for the Week 7 clash.
Before Schefter's report, one 49ers insider provided a notable update on McCaffrey's injury.
"As I understand it, Christian McCaffrey's injury is more of a pain-tolerance thing," Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area wrote on social media. "The extra day helps."
The 49ers have shifted their entire practice schedule by one day because their next game is on Monday night instead of Sunday. The team will hold its first practice on Thursday, followed by sessions on Friday and Saturday. They will then board a plane to Minneapolis ahead of the game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
McCaffrey tried to return to Sunday's game after sustaining the injury in the third quarter, but he had to exit again after just one play. Jordan Mason and Elijah Mitchell took over in the backfield during McCaffrey's absence against the Browns and will vie for playing time against the Vikings if McCaffrey cannot go.
