True to form, Bayless' reaction did not disappoint, and Richard Sherman and Keyshawn Johnson's I-told-you-so responses added extra satisfaction.
Bayless remained hopeful this season, feeling that the Cowboys could get past their postseason roadblock. That obviously did not happen. San Francisco dominated Dallas with a staggering 42-10 victory on Sunday night, marking the most lopsided win in the 40-game history between the two teams.
Even as Bayless predicted a win, he admitted that the one thing that worried him most about the 49ers was quarterback Brock Purdy, who the controversial host said "scares me to death going into Sunday night."
Bayless may admire Purdy more after the quarterback's four-touchdown performance against his squad. On Monday, the host showered the second-year player with additional praise. While Purdy lacks the physical attributes often associated with elite quarterbacks, the 23-year-old reminds Bayless of one specific future Hall of Famer.
"He is mobile, he can move in the pocket to create time to throw, and that throw he made to [TE George] Kittle for that first touchdown, where he was on the move, it was a big-time National Football League pro football throw. He made several of those," Bayless said.
Purdy finished the game 17 of 24 for 252 yards, four touchdowns, and a career-high passer rating of 144.4. His 85.3 overall grade from Pro Football Focus is the best of his career.
"My point is he's early Tom Brady," Bayless continued. "He's on that arc. He is because he doesn't do anything wrong. We said last week, I kept hearing back on this show, 'Well, he only has five touchdown passes to zero interceptions.' Well, now he's got nine to zero. Is that good enough?
"He has started and finished 12 games in this league. He's 12-0 in those. 12-0? It's impossible."
Bayless ran through the list of excuses Purdy's critics have used to downplay his achievements, including playing within Shanahan's quarterback-friendly scheme and having weapons like Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk around him.
"You still have to play the position at the highest level," Bayless countered. "He is way better than Dak Prescott ever thought about being because he is unflappable. He is unflustered. He stands back there, as I said earlier in the show, like he's playing soft toss catch. He reads it so quickly. He picks out the absolute most open receiver, and then he just throws him a little radar rainbow, just flicks his wrist, and all of a sudden, it drops right into the breadbasket.
"And I'm saying, we have a wizard (Shanahan) calling plays for a wizard (Purdy) because this kid's a wizard. Hogwarts. He's right out of Hogwarts. I've never seen anything like it."
