Moody was 69 of 84 on field goals at Michigan with a long of 59. His 29 field goals in 2022 set a single-season school record, helping to earn him first-team All-Big Ten honors. Moody also set a school record with 147 points. On kickoffs, he had a career average of 60.3 yards with 222 touchbacks.
Moody had a 63.6-yard average in 2022 with 66 touchbacks. He was perfect on all 148 of his career extra-point attempts. The Wolverine was named the MVP of the East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas, kicking four field goals in the collegiate all-star game.
"Anything I can do to help the team win a Super Bowl, that's obviously the goal, but obviously it's already a great team to be a part of, and I'm so excited," Moody said of being drafted by the 49ers.
The total value of Moody's four-year contract is $5,304,086, per OverTheCap.com. That includes a signing bonus of $857,516 and a 2023 salary-cap figure of $964,379.
Thanks to the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which runs through the 2030 season, all rookie contracts are for a length of four years. First-round selections come with an option for a fifth year, which doesn't apply to any of the 49ers' nine draft selections.
"Moody has just two seasons as a full-time kicker but he was a consistent performer who could pull the team to wins when the offense sputtered," Lance Zierlein wrote within the player's NFL.com scouting report. "He's very reliable on kicks shorter than 40 yards but has been less consistent from longer distances. He's capable on kickoffs and strikes the ball with consistency, so he should get a shot a chance to compete for a roster spot in camp."
