Michael Renner of Pro Football Talk went three rounds deep in his latest mock draft, though. San Francisco owns three of the final four selections in the third round. Assuming they don't package selections to move up or add selections by trading down, the team is slated to pick at slots 99, 101, and 102.
Below is what Renner projects the 49ers doing with their first three draft selections.
Round 3, Overall Pick 99: OT Blake Freeland, BYU
Blake Freeland is a versatile tackle, able to play on the left or right side. The offensive lineman played exclusively on the left side in 2019 and 2020, then played on the left side in 2021 and 2022. His 91.0 overall Pro Football Focus grade and 87.9 run-blocking grade this past season were career highs.
Freeland has allowed only two sacks in 1,418 pass-blocking snaps over his collegiate career and just one over the past three seasons. He set an NFL Scouting Combine record for an offensive lineman with a 37" vertical jump.
The 49ers lost right tackle Mike McGlinchey in free agency, and left tackle Trent Williams is 34 years old.
Round 3, Pick 101: S Sydney Brown, Illinois
Sydney Brown registered 60 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, a sack, seven passes defensed, a team-leading six interceptions, a touchdown, and a forced fumble through 12 game appearances as a senior in 2022, per Sports Reference. He recorded 320 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, two sacks, 16 passes defensed, 10 interceptions, two touchdowns, and four forced fumbles through his five collegiate seasons.
The 49ers lost defensive backs Jimmie Ward, Emmanuel Moseley, and Tarvarius Moore in free agency.
Round 3, Pick 102: TE Luke Schoonmaker, Michigan
San Francisco has long sought a tight end to complement George Kittle, the team's hard-playing but often banged-up All-Pro. Luke Schoonmaker registered 35 receptions for a career-high 418 yards and three touchdowns through 12 game appearances as a senior in 2022, per Sports Reference. He caught 52 passes for 583 yards with six touchdowns over his last two collegiate seasons.
